The Government plans to legislate the regulation of student internships as part of the National Youth Year, announced Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Yiannis Panagiotou today.

In a written statement, the Minister noted that 2024 has been declared by the Government as the National Youth Year. As part of this initiative, the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance is promoting legislation to regulate student internships, focusing on employment terms, social security, and remuneration.

"We are considering the suggestions outlined in the conclusions of the 5th Youth Parliament, working with the Parliamentary Committee on Labour, and listening to our youth to create a better and fairer environment for student internships, preparing them for integration into the labour market," Panagiotou said.
