'Citizen's Voice': A New Online Platform for Enhancing Citizen-Government Interaction

It Will Conduct Advisory Citizen Polls on Current and Significant Issues Related to Proposed Laws and Policies

The Office of the Commissioner of the Presidency has announced the launch of the online platform "Citizen's Voice," positioning it as a key tool for participatory democracy. This platform provides citizens with the opportunity for two-way communication with the executive branch.

As stated in the Office's announcement, "Citizen's Voice" will conduct advisory citizen polls on current and significant issues related to proposed laws and policies the Government intends to implement. This will help record and consider the general social perception on these topics.

The platform was first used on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, with the initial poll focusing on reducing the voting age limit to either 17 or 16 years old.

It is noted that the platform's operation ensures the anonymity of the vote, the security of personal data, and the validity of the voting process. Personal data will be encrypted and automatically deleted after the voting period. When accessing the platform, citizens will be asked to enter the last four digits of their ID or Passport number, their date of birth, and their mobile phone number, after which they will receive a one-time password (OTP). This ensures that each voting citizen is eligible (17 years or older) and votes only once.

Finally, it is mentioned that the Presidency of the Republic has conducted a special "Impact Assessment" and secured approval from the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection.
