Professor Nikolaos Zamboglou Awarded Germany's Highest Federal Honor

Founder of the German Oncology Center Recognized for Contributions to German-Cypriot Medical Relations

On Wednesday, Professor Nikolaos Zamboglou, the founder of the German Oncology Center, was awarded Germany's most prestigious federal decoration, the Order of Merit Cross. The ceremony was held at the German Embassy in Nicosia, with Ambassador Anke Schlimm bestowing the honor on behalf of German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The Order of Merit Cross is the highest federal decoration awarded by Germany as a mark of recognition and gratitude. Established in 1951, it honors individuals for their political, economic-social, and intellectual achievements that contribute significantly to the country.

Professor Zamboglou expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Schlimm and President Steinmeier, acknowledging the honor as "the highest distinction which also reflects on all my colleagues." He added, "This award confirms the high level of medical services in Cyprus."

In conjunction with the award ceremony, the Limassol Municipality also honored Professor Zamboglou in an event held at the Limassol City Hall.
