Cyprus' Social Insurance Fund Sustainable Until 2080, Study Shows

The Findings Will Be Presented Today During a Press Conference at the Ministry of Labor

On Monday, at the Social Insurance Council, which includes representatives from union and employer organizations, the main results of the actuarial study on the sustainability of the Social Insurance Fund were presented. The study was discussed in the presence of Yiannis Panayiotou, the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance.

The findings will be presented today by actuaries from the International Labor Office during a press conference at the Ministry of Labor.

Specifically, the study, which is conducted every three years as mandated by law, will be presented by Andre Picard, the head of the Actuarial Services Unit, and Kostas Stavrakis, the project director. The reference year for the study is 2020; the previous study referenced 2017.

According to information from the Cyprus News Agency, the actuarial study demonstrates that the Social Insurance Fund is sustainable until 2080, a continuation of findings from the previous study, and confirms that there is no imminent risk to the fund's stability. It also emphasizes the need to establish a real reserve.
